Welcome to Right to Know International. Founded in 2026, Right to Know International is an NGO focused on promoting privacy, transparency, access to information, and freedom of information worldwide
We are supported entirely by our members, and divided into national chapters.
While we most certainly interact and collaborate with governments worldwide, we recognize that the governing privacy and transparency protection structures in place in different countries vary immensely. For example, Denmark has strong privacy protections and a robust freedom of information structure. Conversely. Canada has a very weak access to information system but has a relatively strong privacy protection framework. In turn, the United States provides no meaningful privacy protection to its citizens all the while most access to information advocates note that the FOIA system is fundamentally broken.
The nature of the systems which Right to Know International members interact with inform our posture towards these organizations. We advocate on behalf of some of these regulators all the while we are openly adversarial to those who have been the subjects of institutional capture.
